About the Project
Shuff and Byng is (at this stage) a R&D exploring the possibility of a new show inspired by the life and legacy of two groundbreaking and distinct female impersonators – Dougie Byng and Rex Jameson.
R&D Filming
We were called upon by the marvellous Matt Linley Creative Projects to capture a showing of ‘Shuff and Byng’ after it’s R&D period. Whilst not a full show yet, over time the excerpts performed will go on to form parts of the final piece – and having a multi-camera capture of the showing will enable the project to gain future funding and opportunities. We filmed the showing at the gorgeous Electric Palace in Harwich.

Filming Equipment
We use three of our Sony FX30’s to capture the showing. There were three performers in the show, and along with the Director and Producer, all were discretely mic’d with DPA microphones and Shure ULXD wireless packs. There was also some instruments we recorded too. All was mixed in post and a full archive recording of the showing was produced. There are also smaller clips of excerpts of the showing produced to be used standalone.
